Swing as hard as you can swing
It will still mean nothing
Should've seen it coming
It had to happen sometime
But you went and brought a knife
To an all out gunfight...
This Means War-Nickelback
Luca was almost at the manor when the hunters emerged from the thicket. He wasn’t surprised to see them, he knew they were on their trail the whole time he was following Cadence.
“Luca!” Samuel nodded grimly at him.

“Samuel,” Luca bowed slightly. This was their first meeting in twenty years.  Meeting though was too polite a word.

“So it’s true, you’re back to free your brother,” Samuel continued. Neither man’s gaze faltered as they approached each other.

He didn’t owe them any explanations so Luca didn’t say anything as he silently weighed his options. Samuel and his hunters had gone after Cadence, but the only reason she was still breathing was because he’d foiled their plans. That didn’t sit well with him. He could kill them all now, or later. But either way they were dead.

“It won’t end well for your clan Luca. We are older now, stronger too. You’ll lose.” Samuel said. By now both men were standing dangerously close to each other. Luca could feel the other man’s warm breath on his face and it made him uncomfortable, he wanted to step back and put a little bit of distance between them, but he wouldn’t. He never wavered from an opponent, just like he never walked away from a fight.
“I’m okay with losing. But leave Cadence out of it. If you so much as look at her the wrong way, I will hunt you down and use your stakes and fucking garlic on you.” He told the hunter. His voice was low, and he thought the light wind had snatched his words before they’d even left his lips, but the petrified, wide eyed look in Ava’s eyes told him his message was well received.

“Well then it’s a good thing we don’t use garlic and stakes anymore,” Samuel smiled crudely.

Luca understood the meaning behind the hunter’s words. They were not going to back down on Cadence; they were prepared to do anything to make sure he didn’t get her blood. And he was willing to do everything to get it. They were at a stalemate, and only one of them would win, and it sure as hell wasn’t going to be the hunters. He was certain of that much at least.

Without uttering another word, he brushed past Samuel. As far as he was concerned their talk was over.
Ava was an inconsolable mess. She couldn’t stop shaking, no matter how tightly Samuel held her to him to warm her up. They were now at their shed, going over their failed plan to get Cadence and their confrontation with Luca.

“I’m telling you, the only chance we have at getting Cadence is at school,” Ava cried harshly as she abruptly jumped to her feet.
“Let this business with Cadence go. Let it rest. Luca will kill all of us if we touch her. Don’t forget the witches; they’ll come at us with everything they have. Please, Ava, you have nothing to fear now, the Star’s been destroyed, so with or without Cadence’s blood Luca can’t break out his brother. He’s lost and he doesn’t know it.” Samuel tried to reason with her, but nothing he or the others said seemed to sink in.
Ava was adamant Luca was a step ahead of them, and she tried to convince them, drawing their attention to the Vampire’s confidence.

“He seems certain he’ll succeed. We may have destroyed the witches’ Star, but what if there are other Stars, what if there wasn’t just one? And what if Luca has it? He looked like a man whose plans are falling into place and all he needs is Cadence’s blood!” She cried harshly as she paced the room.
If it wasn’t for the wild, crazy look in her eyes, they would have seriously considered her argument. But at that moment, with her caramel colored hair flying everywhere, getting in her eyes and mouth, she looked like a raving lunatic. And no one trusts raving lunatics.

It broke Samuel’s heart to see her let her fears about Luca and his clan consume her to a point where he hardly recognized her anymore.
“Look. We have to calm down and act rationally on this. So far all we have is your unfounded suspicion. Until we know for sure Luca has another Star, we’re letting this thing with Cadence go!” Samuel told her firmly, his word was final and it brooked no argument.

“Okay,” Ava put up her hands and nodded.

Samuel felt a little uneasy as he watched her run up the stairs; she had given in too easily. And knowing her as well as he did, he hoped his suspicions were wrong…

Note: This was supposed to be part of  Volume 1.21, but my game crashed before I could shoot the rest of the pics, so yeah, that's why both volumes were so short.

  1. War oh dear poor Cadence is always stuck in the middle if only they knew how Luca really felt about her but would it make a difference? I doubt it.

    1. I doubt that Luca's feelings about Cadence would make a difference. In fact if they knew they'd be even more determined to harm her just to hurt him. Thanks for reading.

  2. I guess it's fair to say that Ava went crazy lol

  3. What a predicament Luca was in. I am glad that they didn't try any funny stuff, surrounding him like that. I wonder though why they hesitated, seeing that he was alone. Ava was too heated in that disagreement to let it drop in a second. I'll be waiting to see what she is up to.

I love that first picture. It's like a calm, cool, collected - 'oh poop' haha

Loved it and very much looking forward to see what happens next :)

    1. Fae,

He was in a tight spot, but they wouldn't have tried anything on him since they were only prepared for an attack on Cadence, going after him would have been suicide, he's still stronger and more powerful than them, that's why he was weighing his options about "killing them now or later". Agreed on Ava, she gave in too easily and Samuel knows this too.

Thank you, and thanks for reading!

  4. What does Ava want to do with Cade? Kill her? Kidnap and devirginize her? I don't understand both of the options are monstrous considering Cade is an innocent bystander in all of this. Ava is going off the deep end. She gave in to easily and I fear she's going to try to do something to Cade on her own.

Luca will have their heads on a stake if they even attempt to harm her in anyway!

    1. Jaz,

I think anyone of the options you mentioned are possible, and you're so right, it's irrational to want to harm Cadence since she's really innocent in all of this, but sometimes there's no reasoning with fear, and Ava has plenty of that.

I like what you said about Luca. He most definitely will.

      Thanks for reading!

  5. ~ Beautiful expressive pictures, they explain so much, but then so do your words, loved this short look into who may wish Cad harm!!!!!!
~ Luca was dead serious on killing them,as he knew their intentions towards Cadence, & one of the reasons why he went off at her!He knew they were after her!
~ It looks like things will not end well for Ava,as she was an innocent child,in her terror,so is Cadence in this! But I think her mind is too warped to see things from Cadences point of view!
~ The Hunters are in a world of trouble if they try to pursue this further!I hope they do stick to dropping it!
~ Loved it! More please when you can!(",)

    1. Karima,

-Thanks for that, but I really thought the shots sucked in this one :( Anyway, I'm glad you don't think so. And yes, this update was needed since I think I left a lot of people confused as to who might want to harm Cadence, so I thought I should clear that up.
-He is dead serious about killing them and they would be heed his warning.
-That's true about Ava, she too was an innocent child when she lost her family and you'd think she'd be more sympathetic towards Cadence's situation.
      -More is on the way.

Thanks for all your support and encouragement.

  6. Thank you for writing, I've really enjoyed reading your stories.

I was so expecting that the hunters would just try to rape Cadence, but now you seem to be steering the story to another direction. I cannot wait to see what happens!

I hope you don't get my comment twice, I think I failed on my first try to send this...

    1. OMG, I'm totally squealing like a real fan girl right now. I can't believe I got a comment from one of my favorite creators. I love all your mods, and the one you released last night, the extension of the pose player totally blew my mind. Thank you for all your amazing work. I'm a huge fan of yours, if you hadn't gathered that already.

And no, thank you for reading my stories and for taking a moment to leave me feedback, I appreciate it.

Yes, the story is moving in a different direction, but with the hunters and so many people against Luca anything can still happen.

I got three comments actually, and I just deleted the first two.

Once again, thanks for stopping by.

    2. Lol, three comments!

Looks like we are fans of each other then. I'm quite new to sim stories and I read your Krisis almost on one sitting when I found it. I also like Seven a lot.

Thanks for writing, it is always fun to come back to see if there are new chapters!

    3. Wow, I didn't know you read Krisis and Seven. That was a lot of reading you did there, and I really appreciate you giving all three of my stories a chance. Thank you.

  7. "And no one trusts raving lunatics." I dunno! I think lunatics are right sometimes though :P with that said Ava is motivated by fear...and that is a great motivator so they should keep an eye on her. I have a feeling that she is going to do something that no one likes.

    1. Aeon,

I'm with you on raving lunatics, especially this raving lunatic. Everything she said was on point, about the possibility of there being more than just one Star and Luca having it. But because she was emotional, they automatically pegged her as irrational.

      Thanks for reading!

  8. I too read Krisis but I am gradually catching up with all of the chapters so I can know what's going on. :) Love that story btw.
So what's Ava's deal? Why is she so dead set on getting Cadence? Maybe her family or someone she loved suffered at the hands of Luca and his clan?
I lol'd when Luca said he would use stakes and garlic on Samuel. Rofl.
So now we know the hunters are after Cadence, so that was what Luca was talking about in the last chapter.
Can't wait to see what happens next!

    1. Yes, I know you follow Krisis, thank you for that and 175 chapter is a lot for anyone to get through, if you want to take a short cut you can read the summaries, it covers seasons 1 to 4.

Ava lost everyone in her family when "Luca's clan" attacked the town. She's really motivated by fear and nothing more. Luca coming back, in her head, means another attack on the town and she can't let that happen.

Yes, that's what Luca's was referring to in the last update. This update was supposed to be part of Volume 1.21.

Thanks for reading and for your feedback.

  9. Oh no! Looks like the raving lunatic may be planning behind everyones back to get poor Cadence, she can't much win for losing. I'm hoping Luca can find a way to stay close enough to her to keep her safe.
Samuel seems to have a better head on his shoulders, and if he's thinking he needs to keep an eye on Ava, he's probably thinking right!...edenz~

    1. Eden,

Yes, it looks like Ava is working on her own agenda. Luca will try his best to protect her, after all he needs her, without Cadence he might as well pack up and return to Hidden Springs. Samuel is logical and calm and I guess that's what makes him a good leader, and he sure has his work cut out for him where Ava's concerned.

Thanks so much for your feedback, I appreciate hearing your thoughts.

  10. I feel so sorry for Cadence, in a way her mother turned on her, i dont think the coven will support her and now her friends and other people are turning on her and all she wants to do is just love Luca.
I too hope Luca can protect her, it looks like she may have a rocky road ahead.
    looking towards the next chapter!

    1. jadedflower,

I love the insight you have on Cadence and her feelings for Luca. Despite everyone's warnings and all the horror stories they've told her about him, she can see the good in Luca and she just wants to love him and still be a part of her coven. But like in most situations, she can't have her bread buttered on both sides, not where her coven is concerned at least.

Yes, Luca will stay close to her, he can't afford to let anything happen to her.

Thank you for reading and for leaving a comment, I enjoy hearing your views.

  11. Ava is intent on revenge no matter what! At least now, the others can see how unbalanced she is becoming. She is losing her reasonableness. She doesn't even care that Cadence is innocent and in the middle of everything through no fault of her own!

I am glad that Luca knows that they are also after Cadence! The poor girl doesn't even know how much danger she is really in. I don't think that her mother knows either!

    Great like always, Val!

    1. Daisies,

Welcome back! You are back, right?

Yes, Ava is intent on revenge and the others are failing to get her to see reason and since they can see she's unbalanced the right thing to do would be for them not to let her out of their sight, there's no telling what she'll do.

That's why Luca acted all apeshit on her in the last update, because he knew the danger he was. And you're right, Sonja has no clue.

      Thanks so much for reading.

  12. So sorry it took so long to read this! Been super busy! Another great chapter, sorry to hear that your game crashed, but I'm glad you got some pics and some more of the story posted at least. :) I wonder how the hunters plan to stop Luca since they said they don't have stakes and garlic now. I also wonder how Luca plans to open the door without the Star. Looking forward to finding out! Can't wait to see him and Cadence together officially (if they ever get there)!

  13. Wow, I'm finally caught up! And now I'm sad there are no more chapters for me to read...

This is an amazing story. I love your characters and all the tension you are building up with them.

  14. I Have to agree with Sam, Ava is behaving like a lunatic. Hope she doesn't do something dangerous. Poor Cade always the target and Luca he looks quit lonely. I hope he will free his family soon.

  15. Oh no, thank goodness that Luca was there watching Cade, he wasnt doing it for sport. There was a real reason for it. Cade doesn't even realize how to more trouble she was!

Ava is behaving like a crazed obsessed lunatic. That ending where she gives in so easily has my wheels turning. I hope that she doesn't take matters into her own hands and do something drastic and stupid.

  16. Oooh, I really liked that confrontation. :) I'm sure Ava has something up her sleeve.
